Waiting for warmer days

Friday, February 6, 2009

A small challenge.

I got challenged by Rune at Bildebloggen. To present my 6th photo in my 6th folder under my main picture folder.
This is the photo. Captured on a sunny day. Cold wind blowing through my bones.
Hm, I must admit that I am looking forward to publish summer photos.

I wish you all a wonderful, warm and relaxing weekend.

SkyWatch Friday

After a busy week I am back. On this particular day the weather was changing every tenth minute. You can see the clear blue sky with heavy snowshowers below. I find it very interesting to be outside under such conditions, to experience the powerful nature.

Don't forget to visit SWF to see more skies.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

SkyWatch Friday

This is a black and white photo. Just as it looked like this day. The sun struggled to break through the heavy clouds.

SkyWatch Friday

This picture is as fresh as it gets. I had to drive north for 3,5 hours to day in order to fix a problem (not this fence). When I arrived at site around 3:40 PM, I had this wonderful sunset and had to shoot some pics. But It was cold. -15C and a cold wind blowing. Brrrrrrrrr.

I wish you all a great and peaceful weekend.

SkyWatch Friday

These two photos are from yesterday. A wonderful day. Today this is gone. The temperature increased several degrees and it is raining.

The first shot is what you see when you lay down on the snow between some trees and look up to the sky.

Today at work

Today I went across Trondheimsfjorden and after 3 hours driving I parked my car.
I had my snowmobile in the trailer.

After a 20 min ride I got stuck for the second time. I assume that the snowdepth was about 1,5 meters. Nothing but powder. Most of the time it was hard to see where to go because everything was white, like a whiteout. Under these conditions it is hard to keep the right speed in order to stay on top of the snow.

I got my snowmobile up and running, but it was a tough ride. If you think driving a 260 kg snowmobile is like taking a walk in the park,  think again.
Just in front of a steep hill I parked my ride and put on my snow shoes.

I had to get up this hill and some hundred meters further.

Almost at the top the weather changed. Again. For the umpteen time this day.
But I could spot my radio tower. Yihaa.

Wind and snow did not stop me this time. I got my work done.

My World Tuesday

I went for a walk on Sunday (a quiet day) down to Nedre Elvehavn and TMV.

Trondhjems mekaniske Værksted or TMV was a major shipbuilding company in Trondheim, Norway. It was founded in 1872 by the engineer Sophus August Weidemann. For many years TMV was the biggest employer in Trondheim. The majority of TMV's shares was acquired by Aker in 1960, merging them into the Aker Group. The company was closed in 1983.
The former location of the company's shipbuilding business, Nedre Elvehavn, is still referred to as "TMV" by some citizens of Trondheim. The entire area has been subject to an urban renewal project. A shopping centre, Solsiden, was built on the grounds in October 2000, and the surrounding area now has several apartment buildings and a hotel.

The history of the area as a shipyard is preserved; the dry docks, many of the company buildings and even some of the shipbuilding equipment (such as a large crane) is still present. When a pedestrian bridge connecting Nedre Elvehavn to the city centre of Trondheim was built in 2003, it was named Verftsbrua, meaning "the (ship)yard bridge".

By the lake

Would you believe it, I went swimming in this lake. Well, not today, but on a hot summer day in July. I think it was wonderful this afternoon as well.
I wish you all a nice week.

Due to some spam, I have to activate Word Verification on my blog. Sorry for the coincident.

During the last 24 hrs it has been snowing a lot, about 50 cm. And there is more to come according to the weather forecast. I enjoy this weather. This is from my garden tonight.

Have a nice weekend wherever you are.

Moose

I captured these four animals just before Christmas, yes there are four of them. Two in the middle.
In this picture they are looking at cars driving by just a few hundred meters away.
Because I don't have a "papparazzi"-lense, this is the best I could do. They saw me as well as the cars.

Merry Christmas

I wish you all a peaceful Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

Cold winter days

I've had some busy days lately, and I know that those to come will be too.

But I feel lucky anyway, because I can do both business and pleasure. Going by snowmobile is not a walk in a park, it is harder than it looks like, but it is funny after all.

Yesterday was the coldest so far, -17.5 C outside and +21C inside my car.

These last pics are captured with my cellphone cam yesterday, hence the lower quality.

I am sorry for not visiting you so often, but I will try to find some time the next days.

Power supply in the mountains

Shot at Mount Bringen, south of Trondheim, back in  March 2006.
