Goose

Kanadagås/Canada goose/Branta canadensis

DSC_0077 copy

Yesterday, when the rain was pouring down, these geese and several others stopped to feed on this field.

They were just a few meters away from the road and as soon as I got out of my car they decided not to be around anymore.

  1. Great Canada Goose photo, that's a bird I'm familiar with, they're very common here in Maine, I usually see them when I'm kayaking.

  2. Ah, you either dislike 'em or you love 'em... and I happen to be their biggest fan! =)
    Great photograph.

  3. Nice photography. I sometimes get to see Canada Geese in fields like this around here but usually only when there are spots of water. I think they depend on the water to make the larger earth worms come to the surface where they are picked off and eaten.

  4. Yes, geese are camera shy. They see me, turn their backs and slowly walk away! Frustrating, isn't it? ;-)

  5. I can remember a time when Canadian geese where exotic. Not they are as common as pigeons in Philadelphia. I had to maneuver around a bunch just a few minutes ago on my ride into work.

Still, you've managed to give them dignity with your photograph.

  6. Ivar: They do love to walk away if you want to take a photo.

  9. As common as they have became, I still love to see the wild geese. When I was growing up the only geese we ever seen were flying over in migration. Now we have resident geese year around.

Just we don't have them around here! :)

  11. Geese are funny that way. At least they let you have one pretty good picture before they decided to move out.!
