Today at work

Today I went across Trondheimsfjorden and after 3 hours driving I parked my car.
I had my snowmobile in the trailer.

After a 20 min ride I got stuck for the second time. I assume that the snowdepth was about 1,5 meters. Nothing but powder. Most of the time it was hard to see where to go because everything was white, like a whiteout. Under these conditions it is hard to keep the right speed in order to stay on top of the snow.

I got my snowmobile up and running, but it was a tough ride. If you think driving a 260 kg snowmobile is like taking a walk in the park,  think again.
Just in front of a steep hill I parked my ride and put on my snow shoes.

I had to get up this hill and some hundred meters further.

Almost at the top the weather changed. Again. For the umpteen time this day.
But I could spot my radio tower. Yihaa.

Wind and snow did not stop me this time. I got my work done.

  5. Hello!
I'm sorry for the invasion, but I had to comment: your photos are gorgeous!
You have amazing pictures all over your blog... I love snow, cold, winter in general.
I always wanted to go to Norway because it seemed so beautiful... now, I want it even more! Maybe someday, and maybe I'll have my own gorgeous photos of Norway snow :)

    Take care

  9. Great photgraphs Ivar, a lot more snow than we saw when in Switzerland and Austria at Christmas. We have had very cold weather and snow flurries here in the UK.
My husband was very interested in your radio tower as he is a "radio ham",are you?

Herlig. Men beundrer deg for å ta disse turene alene. Håper du har sikkerhetsutstyret i orden. Men veldig flotte bilder da, som vanlig.

  11. Stilig blogging, bra storry.

  12. You say riding your snowmobile is not like a walk in the park, but it does look fun!

  15. Ohhh, gosh - for et eventyr! Vintereventyr.

    Varme hverandre i vinterland :)

  16. Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures and beautiful home. My grandmother's family is from Skjolden, and I've always wanted to visit Norway. Now I can vicariously until I can afford to physically!

  17. Beautiful pictures! Norway is one place I truly want to visit, and preferably in the winter time now. I miss having a lot of snow and being out in the country.
Fully understand the weight of a machine going through deep powder. It isn't easy at all at times.
Really enjoy your blog. Thank you for sharing.

  23. I have no words to say how I feel looking at your pictures. I was in Norway, Tromsö, 3 years ago, but there wasn't any snow at all. I loved it but with snow it must be just WONDERFUL.

Congratulations for your pics and thanks for sharing them.

  32. Fantastisk reportasje.
    :)
Burde egentlig sendt tips til NRK eller TV2.
Da ville nok tv-ruten se mere ut som for folk flest i steden for middager for fiffen i den nye Operaen.

    Flott!!!!!

  33. Takk for turen!

PD Takk for kommentaren - måtte forsøke noe nytt.

  35. Hello Ivar, I haven't commented in a while, but I read your feeds and enjoy your photos everyday. There was something so beautiful and serene and scary about these all at the same time!

I've never owned or worn a pair of snowshoes in my life! They must be mandatory there!

Your snow-laden evergreen trees are incredible!

Have a wonderful day. Thanks for taking so many wonderful photos of such an incredible place!

  45. Jeg er imponert til langt over støvleskaftene. Både over jobben du gjør, bildene du tar og over all snøen dere har.
