Bridges Between/ Broer Som Binder

This is Skarnsundet Bridge. It crosses the strait Skarnsundet in Trondheimsfjord. The bridge was, on its completion in 1991, the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world by the length of main span.  Total length is 1010 meters, longest span 530 meters. Clearence below is 45 meters.

In the construction of the bridge, starting in 1988, 19.600 km³ concrete was used and the 208 cables with a total length of 33 km weigh 1 030 tonnes. The cables have a diameter varying between 52 mm and 85 mm and can, if needed, be replaced separately. The bridge is fundamented in bedrock below the seabed under each tower. The bridge was build to withstand winds up to 48,5 m/s (century storms) and is control calculated for earthquakes.

  3. For et byggverk og for noen kabler!! Her snakker vi dimensjoner ja gitt.

  14. Sometimes one remains astonished in seeing such beautiful design in a period of poor design results in architecture, fashion, furniture and other segments of industrial society...
